DJ Biographies

Neil Balcombe

Neil Balcombe Originally wanting to be in a band, Neil gave up aspirations of playing the guitar as he found it easier to play other people's records. After discovering trance whilst sat in an Amsterdam cafe at the tail end of the 90's, Neil spent several years on the dance floors of the major clubs in the UK. Buying his first set of decks in 2003, Neil initially loved the big room anthems of Paul Oakenfold, Paul Van Dyk and Above & beyond. Since then his tastes have mellowed and he now enjoys a deeper, more progressive and funky sound. Having performed at several low key parties in the past, 2009 sees him launch the House Soup night with friend and fellow DJ Tom Thorpe. http://soundcloud.com/neilbalcombe

Tom Thorpe

Tom Gaythorpe Tom never used to be a big fan of music until discovering the band Linkin Park on the TV channel "Q". Immediately buying their album "Hybrid Theory", Tom was then listening to lots of rock bands like Limp Biscuit and the Foo Fighters. He started learning the guitar and played in the schools rock band "Morley Rock". Towards the end of high school, Tom was introduced to dance music and soon became a big fan of trance, he lost his passion for rock and just wanted to listen to TRANCE TRANCE TRANCE. He listened deeper into the dance world and became a big fan of hard house, house and minimal. This gave Tom the motivation to by his first set of vinyl decks which he bought in 2008. Then as he became a student of music technology at Huddersfield Uni he put his student loan towards a set of CD decks and also upgraded his mixer. After a year of DJing Tom played his first gig at House Soup Chester and became one of the main DJ's for the House Soup night. http://soundcloud.com/gaythorpe
