DJ Mag Top 100 DJs Poll

Well, another year gone and house soup has failed to make the top 100 yet again. Oh well, there's always next year, maybe we'll have to get some more gigs under our belts then. This is the first year that I can remember that a trance DJ hasn't taken the top spot and what a way to bring in change. David Guetta is the 2011 top DJ. That's right folks, you read it right, David Guetta, seriously people who votes in this contest? Oh yes, of course the same kind of people who vote for people to win X-Factor. At the end of the day this is popularity contest, so you will end up with the more commercial DJs topping the poll. I'm pleased to see the likes of Avicii doing well but also quite disappointed that one of my favourite DJs Riva Starr didn't make it.

House Soup Sets New Heights and Goes International

That's right, House Soup has now taken their special blend of house music abroad for the first time. Myself and Tom were lucky enough to play an hour and a half set at the Ice-Shock Bar in Alpe D'Huez. This unique bar is situated on the slopes of the ski resort in Alpe D'Huez at the height of 2100 metres above sea level. It was a completely amazing experience as the sun was setting behind the mountains and people were coming off the slopes at the end of their days skiing/boarding. And what better way to end and awesome dj set than to board back down to our chalet in the dark. We played an eclectic mix of tech-house and progressive/electro house that went down well with the locals. We've definitely got a massive desire to play more outside gigs too, even if they're not at such an altitude, roll on the summer festival season! Make sure to check out the pics and videos after the break.
